LOCATION

Ayrumã is located four km from the Capivari Quilombola community, district of the municipality of Serro, in the Minas Gerais State, Brazil. As one of the first cities to be listed by the National Institute of the Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN), Serro has a lively traditional culture and exceptional socio-cultural value.

In the middle of the mountains of the southern portion of the Espinhaço Range, at the south of the Jequitinhonha watershed, the vegetation stands out for the exuberance of the campos rupestres and sub-mountain forests. With high rates of rare, endemic and/or threatened species, it is a region of paramount importance for biodiversity conservation.
